Jakarta ready for UNITED:LIVE
United Army is one of the Reds' biggest fan clubs in Indonesia, numbering 25,000
members and over 100,000 followers on Twitter. We chatted with its president, Arie
Best, about the upcoming UNITED:LIVE fan party in Jakarta…
How much are you looking forward to the event?
It’s amazing. The fans here can’t wait. Even though it’s not the first team, the attendance of
two ex-players [Denis Irwin and Louis Saha] will make everyone here happy. We could have
several thousand fans at the event.

What are your memories of the previous fan parties in Jakarta?
The last three events here gave us amazing memories. Watching the game on a big screen
with legends and thousands of fans was unforgettable.

Are you looking forward to seeing Irwin and Saha?
Definitely. In his time, Denis was the best left-back around and a great penalty taker, while
Louis was a terrific striker. It would be a dream come true to be able to meet them.

When was your club launched and how many members do you have?
United Army was established in 2009 and we have 25,000 members across the country, a
figure that gets bigger each year. We watch every game together and several of our
members make the trip to Old Trafford to watch a game every year.

When and why did you first start supporting United?
In 1996, when Eric Cantona scored the winner in the FA Cup final against Liverpool. His
leadership and the spirit of the team made me fall in love with United.

What are your favourite United memories?
Beating Chelsea in the 2008 Champions League final, which also happened to be my 31st
birthday. What a present! Also, meeting Sir Alex Ferguson and waving an Indonesian flag
at Old Trafford when I first visited in 2006. I've seen about 20 matches live since then.
